As a result of our last reunion, we have been able
to award $2,000 scholarships to deserving graduates from Los Alamos High
School. The name of the scholarship program is the Shirley Fries Alumni
Scholarship Fund. After reviewing 30 applicants for the 2010 Scholarship, a
$2,000 scholarship was awarded to Kris Kupchella
a 2010 LAHS graduate.
We awarded one scholarship in 1993-2010, with the exception of 1996 when two were awarded. We raised our scholarship to $1,000 in 2000 from $500 previously. And I am happy to add that since the 2005 reunion we have raised the yearly scholarship to $2,000. Do we have anyone interested in contributing additional proceeds? If so please make the check out to the LAHS Alumni Association and write the word Scholarship on the memo line and mail it to LAHS Alumni Association, 6101 Sequoia Rd NW G2, Albuquerque NM 87120-3425.
